You have all my solidarity in your underground strike and your blockades to enforce your interests. I hereby also protest against the actions of the mine operators in the Almansnaya mine, who did not keep their promise to pay the outstanding wages after the end of your strike. Their promise was dishonest as it was immediately and directly broken! I myself worked 35 years underground in the German hard coal mining industry and I can understand your situation.

I have learned of your strike and the repression by the Tuscaloosa County Supervisor, and on behalf of the International Mine Workers Coordination, I want to express my heartfelt solidarity with you. You have our fullest support for your strike. My name is Andreas Tadysiak and I spent 40 years in the German coal mining industry, about 35 of them as an electrician underground. I am a member of the German miners' union IG BCE (Industriegewerkschaft Bergbau, Chemie, Energie) and was a shop steward for many years.

The International Coordination of Mineworkers hereby protests against the massive repression of the peaceful protest of the miners of Kozani through violence, beatings and chemicals. Thousands of miners protested in front of a government building in Sarajevo over plans for job and wage cuts. The demonstration follows government plans to restructure indebted coal mines as part of a programme to switch to renewable energy sources. The plans involve job and wage cuts. Employees from seven of the 11 coal mines in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina stopped working and took part in the demonstration on Tuesday ( Reuters November 23).
