We, the International Coordination of Mineworkers support the World Women's motto. "We are women, we are strong" - this leitmotto was fought for by the 450 participants of the World Women's Conference of Grassroots Women 2022 in Tunis in the headwinds of a world whose ruling systems only exist in crises: Economic and financial crisis, political crises, environmental crises, food crises, crisis of bourgeois refugee policy, crisis of health care, debt crises, etc....
We want to fight for a different world and realise the vision of the International Miners' Coordination, "that the treasures of the soil, water and air belong to those who develop them through their labour. They should be used for a rich, dignified and healthy life for all people in harmony with nature - without exploitation and oppression."(Struggle Programme of the International Miners' Coordination) Let us unite side by side and fight together for a future worth living for ourselves, our children and the generations to come, so that the basis of humanity's life is not destroyed. The women and we miners, are worried about the threat of a 3rd world war with the use of nuclear weapons, which would be a catastrophe for humanity. We miners of the world work hard and in the most difficult, dangerous conditions, including many women and children, such as in artisanal mining in Africa. Miners lose their lives in mining accidents and risk their health at work. Often, women and children are left behind unprovided for! Women in mining denounce sexual assault at work We don't want to live like this! We don't want to sink into the barbarism of a 3rd world war and a global environmental catastrophe! The International Miners' Coordination stands for equal rights for women, against sexism, sexual oppression and violence against women, it stands side by side with the International Combative Women's Movement for the liberation of women. Miners' wives and widows will be represented at the 3rd International Miners' Conference from 31.8. to 3. 9. 2023 in Thuringia/Germany and will also speak in a forum about their working and living conditions and make their demands.
