Greece: we received an update

On Wednesday 19 October 2022, workers of the TEHNOSTYL construction company at the LARCO plant in Larymna will hold a four-hour work stoppage from 10.00 am until the end of the shift. Then They will board buses with LARCO unions and workers and travel to LARCO headquarters (Maroussi, Frangoklisa 27) to protest and make demands to the special management:

  1. The reinstatement of the two colleagues.
  2. The payment of their salaries.
  3. The elimination of the slave office (loan companies Ig) of the extortionists of TECHNOSTYL and their incorporation into LARCO.

Colleagues The dismissal of the two colleagues from TECHNOSTYL and the announcement that "they will all be dismissed by 8 December" is not a dispute between the slave-trading extortionists of TECHNOSTYL and the special leadership. It is a premeditated plan so that we will all leave LARCO on 1 January 2023. See. The last law passed by the government in June 2022 stated that "until the transition, all employees will remain at LARCO to maintain operations or carry out maintenance work". As of 1 August, there will be no more operations. The production workers sit around and get no work. It was even suggested that we should be paid and sit at home. The last part working at LARCO, doing what they can with the spare parts they have to essentially keep the operation going, are the maintenance workers, of which all TECHNOSTYL workers are the backbone. When these workers are laid off, they stop working, and on 1 January, when the contracts cannot be renewed according to the law, we will all end up in the unemployment fund. The experience we have gained in the three years of struggle shows us how we have to continue our way: Workers have rightly not believed the false words of big talk. We fought because we knew that privatisation means devaluation, unemployment and the closure of the company. The 12 months in which the government wanted to bring the "saving investors" into the country have now turned into 36, "God willing". During this time, there have been many attempts. This is their strategic goal. With our struggle and the solidarity expressed in it, we have made them feel. They have blackmailed us several times that we will lose compensation if we do not accept the unemployment programmes." "If there are no layoffs, the investors will not come". We did not give in. Rightly, the workers did not agree, and we did not give in to the blackmail of the bill they finally voted for in June. Today we are vindicated. They want to close LARCO for good, destroying workers, families and whole regions. Some people tell us that we were "deceived". No. We were under no illusions about where they were going and what their strategic goal was. With the right tactics of the workers, they were unmasked and now we all have the right on our side to continue the path of struggle that we know well, to continue to stop them and demand final solutions. They want us to surrender. They are using their powers to tell us that "everything is over and we have to discuss the unemployment programmes". They delay the payment of compensation for regular permits, they delay the renewal of the special administration so that we remain unpaid, they delay the opening of binding offers so that we become afraid, despair, stop fighting and get up and leave. It is not going to happen. We have nowhere to go. Here are our jobs. Here is our home. Here are our children and our families. Here are our parents. Here are the dead of LARCO. We are giving back to them the unemployment programmes of the "Globalisation and Community Service Fund". On Friday, the LARCO unions will go to the Ministry of Finance and raise the issue, demanding a clear statement from those responsible. The government's response will also be decisive for the attitude of all workers. We call on you to be ready and prepared for perhaps the biggest showdown we have held yet. We have not yet spoken our last word. Together, as one, we will succeed.
