ICG statement of solidarity with Georgian miners in Chiatura

To the miners and their families in Chiatura. Dear friends and families.

You continue to have the full solidarity and support of the International Coordination Group of the International Miners' Coordination in your determined struggle for your jobs and the preservation of the region's livelihoods. Since I was with you in April, we have grown together and you are like family to me.

The attacks against you and the attempts to portray your struggle as criminal show that your determination and perseverance are having an effect. The lies and the arrest of the four miners make it clear that they are desperate to resume manganese mining.

They are trying everything to weaken your struggle, such as cutting or cancelling state support for the striking miners. In doing so, they are exposing their links to the company management.

We, the miners of the world, are called upon to continue to express our protest, but also our solidarity and support for your struggle.

We stand by your side and are with you in our hearts, also on 19 June, when the court hearing of the four arrested miners will take place.

The 3rd International Miners' Conference 2023 in Germany declared: No struggle should stand alone! Cross-border solidarity, coordination and cooperation are the order of the day!

In this spirit,

solidarity and militant greetings

Andreas Tadysiak
