Declaration of solidarity with the Bosnian miners

To the protesting and striking miners As a former miner in the German coal industry and as the main coordinator of the International Miners' Coordination, you have my support and solidarity. The experience in Germany with the closure of the German coal industry has shown that waiting for negotiations has mostly brought nothing. Experience has shown that it is never too late to fight! Only those who fight can lose, but they can also win!

Those who do not fight have already lost! As in your case, not only jobs are being lost, but also a "scorched earth policy" is being pursued, which, among other things, calls into question the livelihood of the people here in the region through the deliberate poisoning of the drinking water in the coming period. Since the beginning of 2019, the miners and their families in Germany have been taking to the streets and declaring that we do not accept the closure of the coal mining industry! We are also fighting against the "scorched earth policy" of the mining company which is questioning our foundations here. As a result of the militant protests, the coal company RAG did not succeed in hiding all this from the public and the planned closures of the shafts were delayed or could not be done yet and so the struggle continues. Our common experiences of struggle against job destruction and for higher wages are important parts of the III. International Miners' Conference. It will take place in Germany from 31 August to 3 September 2023. We cordially invite you to help prepare and participate in it. This conference is self-organised, self-financed, democratic and non-partisan. Whether the struggle of the Bosnian miners or other struggles of miners worldwide achieve their goals or not - the International Miners' Coordination will process the experiences so that they become part of the common consciousness of the miners' movement. Everyone will be able to learn from it and we also want to develop mutual support higher! We would be happy to receive reports from you so that we can publish your struggle and experiences on our homepage. Andreas Tadysiak Main Coordinator of the International Miners' Coordination
