Pakistan: Miners demonstrate and block the road against fascist attack

7 January, 2021 Pakistani mineworkers' unions estimate that at least 208 workers were killed on the job in 2020. This trend seems set to continue this year, with a fatal accident on New Years' Day, and two fatal accidents and a terror attack on 3 January. So far this year, 14 mineworkers have been killed.!

On Sept 25th I’m standing with my uncle, who has worked in the mining and fossil fuel industry for 20 years. He deserves well paid work. He deserves to work in an industry that doesn’t threaten the future of his family. I know investing in industries such as gas will not help him, or anyone, long term. That’s why we need Morrison investing in industries that will create jobs and help tackle climate change at the same time.

The main demands on which the campaign took place were regularisation,equal pay for equal work,bonus apart from nine other demands.

we have learned that your company Arcelor Mittal Temirtau does not meet some of its social obligations towards the workers. On the contrary, there are increasing attempts to remove or obstruct trade union rights, especially those of the miners and staff in the steel mill. At the same time, employees are being dismissed by illegal methods and the management of your company violates and ignores Kazakhstan's legislation.

India: FINDINGS OF THE FACT FINDING TEAM ON THE THOOTHUKUDI POLICE FIRING

On 22-05-2018, a demonstration of about 50000 people before the Collectorate in Thoothukudi, Tamilnadu opposing the expansion of Sterlite company was fired upon by the police killing 11 persons and another two were killed in a similar fashion the next day bringing the death toll to 13. In order to check the veracity of various versions on this grave incident of national importance and find out the real facts,a Fact Finding Team(FFT) was constituted jointly by the Indian Federation of Trade Unions(IFTU),All India Kisan Mazdoor Samithi(AIKMS) and the Progressive Organisation of Women(POW),AP.

In the midnight on 31-05-2018, the Jharkand police arrested Bacha Singh,General Secretary and Deepak Kumar,Secretary of the Mazdoor Sangharsh Samithi(MSS) from Chandankiyari in the steel city of Bokaro. It is learnt that their whereabouts are not known and till day they are still in police custody and not produced in any court of law.
