Call of the International Coordination of Mineworkers (ICG) for the International Women's Day on March 8, 2021

International Women's Day 2021 takes place in the situation of the deepest world economic and financial crisis, exacerbated by the global Corona pandemic, which has the potential to develop into an overall social crisis.
Worldwide there are over 2.2 million dead and over 130 million people suffering from Corona.

The profit-driven crisis management of governments has failed and the burden of the crisis is being passed on to families. Vaccinations are often still a long way off. But there are protests and resistance to them everywhere. Women are particularly affected. The struggle program of the International Miners' Coordination states: "We stand for equal rights for women. Women are paid less and discriminated against through unequal treatment. We stand against sexism, sexual repression and violence against women. Against shifting the burden of caring for and raising children and reproducing labor to families...We fight against all forms of special exploitation and oppression of women and support the international, militant women's movement for women's liberation."  Therefore, women must and can take their cause into their own hands, confidently and loudly making their demands, instead of saddling themselves with all the responsibilities. We as the International Miners' Coordination welcome and support them in this. In Argentina, Poland, Peru and Mexico, women are demonstrating for the right to abortion, and in some cases linking this to demands for the resignation of governments. In India, there were militant self-confident actions on January 18, Peasant Women's Day. All over the world, miners' wives stand shoulder to shoulder with miners in strikes and protests for a future worth living. In Belarus, they are courageously standing up to the regime of Alexander Lukashenko, even if they are arrested. Organize militant actions for the International Women's Day - respecting health protection!
Workers - and women's movement hand in hand!
