To the striking miners in Brookwood, Alabama USA

Dear miners and dear families and friends of miners, Congratulations on your perseverance in the struggle against Warrior Met Coal and its outrageous attacks on you, your families and your union UMWA. We declare our solidarity with your struggle and spread the word among miners and workers here in Germany. We are outraged by the brazen attack on your union, United Mine Workers of America.

Your union is to be ordered to pay $13 million in final compensation by a federal regulatory panel. This is an attack on workers' right to strike and right to organise. The unions are to be reduced to toothless tigers and turned into auxiliaries of the mine owners. Greetings also to your brave women whom we saw in a report on Arte. Stand firm together, you have our full solidarity. Often miners still fight independently and know too little about each other. We have also led important struggles in Germany, like the big independent miners' strike in 1997. We are also active in the struggle against the environmental crimes of the mining company RAG in Germany. In order to unite, exchange experiences and coordinate our struggles we would like to invite you to the 3rd International Miners' Conference in Germany. It will take place from 31 August to 3 September 2023 in Thuringia/Germany. What do you think about it? We would be pleased to receive an answer. We miners and friends are very concerned about world peace. After all, with Russia and NATO, world powers with nuclear weapons are meeting in Ukraine and there is an acute danger of a third world war. We miners will not allow ourselves to be harnessed for an imperialist war because: Workers do not shoot at workers and we are fighting for Ukrainian and Russian miners to be able to participate in the 3rd International Miners' Conference and fraternise against the mining companies and their governments. For a society without war, exploitation and oppression." With greetings of solidarity and a hearty Glück AUF Miners and friends of the preparatory group of the 3rd International Preparatory Group from the district of Recklinghausen / Germany unanimously adopted on 20.09. 2022 at our preparatory meeting
